anyone using a jeep wrangler/cj as beach buggy?

just wondering what people thought of them , and what accessories were recommended besides the rod rack and cooler carrier..

hoping to get all the necessary or suggested items together to enjoy beach fishing..

I heard somewhere that piping plover is indian for "tastes like chicken" ..

Talking Yup!

Got an awesome 1985 Jeep CJ-7 with a Chrysler 318 pushing it down the highway! Got all the toys on it, 3 tops, bumper mounted rod-rack on front, cooler rack on the back. Next I am putting on an overhead rack so I can carry all of my rods on top. I love my Jeep in the sand, especially with the top off. Handles great in the sand. What do you have Crash?

Sometimes I wish I had room to sleep (sometimes) kind of tough sleeping sitting up!

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

i am selling my dodge (to lower my monthly payments, buying a house) and was looking at a 98 wrangler with the 4.0 l...

was trying to find a cargo rack that would still allow me to lower the soft top for those nice days..

any advice you can offer will be appreciated.. i am hoping to use this as my regular vehicle (although i don't drive everyday) and have it be my beach buggy for many years..

I've got a 2002 with 35,000 miles, never had a problem in the sand or any problems with the vehicle. Very fun to drive. Mine is a standard transmission. A cargo carrier for the rear hitch with some home made rod holders is important. There's not much storage space inside. I haven't had my backseat in for over a year.

Only negative thing I could say about my Jeep is the security. Thieves can get in through the soft top quite easily.

This is my first post, I hope it comes out okay!

Talking Jeep shopping time....

Crash....go to www.4wd.com or www.quadratec.com. Shop on-line or have them send you out their catalogue. If it exists....they sell it. I buy all my stuff form them. Enjoy!
