Fishing the ditch which end?

When you guys/gals fish the ditch does the tide dictate which end you fish? Say you are fishing an incoming tide would you fish the east end and vice versa with an outgoing tide or would you just fish your usual haunts? I fished last night until 11.30 or so and after losing 2 bucktails I called it quits, cast until my arms about fell off without a single hit
