avet reel update

just used my new avet mx today in the canal and let me tell you that is one sweet reel. The line comes off the spool so fast it was burning my thumb. I did get a couple of mean backlashes but once I fine tune it its gonna cast a mile. Definitely the smoothest reel I've used so far. The lever drag is just an extra bonus. Try one out and you'll be sold.

Question

I'm sure it's a nice boat reel, but the dimensions are kinda funny to be casting them from the beach. Too big in my opinion. Kinda like casting an Accurate Boss.

If they slim it down for surfcasting, I'd be interested in taking a second look at it, the spool rolls very nicely.

WW,
is it bigger than a squidder? thats my max size for fishing off the rocks, anything bigger is too bulky and unfomfortable...

I've been using mine off the boat for 3'waying . I have the little reel (sx?) and it whipped a 20#er without much effort. I plan to use it for deep water flukin. I *Love* the handle on that reel!! Slightly oversized for the reel IMO but Rock solid and strong.
PP works great on it.

its narrower than a squidder. It holds exactly 200 yards of 30 lb. big game. the same capacity if the abu 7000. It actually feels more comfortable than the abu because it a little more narrow and fit much better in my hand.
