Question sand eels on the cape

How common is it to see about a million sandeels exploding on the beach on the cape with no bass around??
I ran into this somewhere in cotuit last night... millions and millions of sandeels all crammed up in teh corner of a jetty.. I plugged for a long time and then when I decided that there were no fish around I blasted my light into the water... I've never seen anything like it.. at least not in RI....

Eben, i ran into the same "problem" saturday ight. birds were diving but the fish didn't make a presence. maybe all the seals i saw had something to do with it.

Eben, there's lots of little sandeels around here right now - don't know if they're....uhhhh...doing the old mambo or not.

Saw scup driven up on the beach 4 nites ago too

sand eels

I fished Race Point lately and on one night the eels were passing through my legs for the whole tide non stop. I did manage 1 bass but it was a schoolie...

I know the night, I was foul hooking sandeels with my Kastmaster! Caught a keeper with one of Tinman's tins.
