Good seafood restaurants in Newport
We have some family coming to town and will be in Newport in a few weeks. Any suggestions?

Fo a fancy place go to the West Deck. Be sure to sit at the bar and enjoy the live cooking show. Food is very good but a little on the pricy side.

Flo's without a doubt - been around since 1936.
Whenever we have family in town we always take them there - and when they come back, it's the first place they wanna go, it's a good come-as-you-are place without the waterfront prices.
The Raw Bar on the 2nd floor is great - it's where all the locals go.
Go and see Lisa or Heidi at the bar and tell 'em Dr. Rocco sent ya (my other AKA from my days bartending at the Bon Zoo) - they'll treat ya right.

Sorry but as a local, Christies and the Mooring suck. Too much of a headache and not really that good. Another couple of spots are The Rhumbline in the Point. They have a good Sunday brunch also. For the best breky on the Isle go to Atlantic Grille on Aquidneck Ave next to Redney's. I had an excellent dinner at the West Deck too. A bit pricey but my neighbors are the hostess and bartender. Another little seafood spot is the Dockside on Lower Thames. As a Newporter I really don't go out to get seafood because most places are overpriced and a huge hassle. If you can get a spot to cookout, buy your own seafood and have a clambake. The Long Warf, a seafood spot just off the bridge used to have the best takeout. My wife loves the Salvation Cafe.

I agree w/you Chip, but we have family coming in from Califironia so I'm kind of looking for something that may be a little touristy.
They are disucssing going to teh Nordic Lodge in Ctown, Im against that $65 to stuff my face, not my idea of fun.

If you want to do the tourist thing, go to the West Deck. It's on Lower Thames. It's on the water at the end of the street where O'Briens Pub is. There's also a new restaraunt on Brown and Howards Wharf that is owned by the guys who own Renaissance in Federal Hill. They offer 15% off to Island residents.I might have to check that out one day. That's the only place I know of hooking up locals during the season. Other places usually do that in the winter. There's also a good gelato place next to it. The other place that might be good ( I have'nt been there in years) is Flo's by First Beach. I would recommend going out to eat during the week. Mon- Wed if you don't like to be crowded.
