Striper Newbie
Hi, I lived in Riverside RI I was hoping somebody would give me an info on where i can go fishing near my place for striper and what time. Also what bait to use. I have a 10ft Black metak rod on 20lb line and reel and also a 9ft calypso with DAIWA 4000 reel on 20lb line.

Time - before sunset into the night a little, deep night, and before first light into early am. Where? the fish "tend" to get bigger the closer you get to the sound but they can be caught a long the bike path. How? Bait is OK I guess but for upper bay fishing I like soft plastics like Cocahoes, Ledgerunners, and small Storms, but the bluefish like 'em too...
Never heard of those rods and I don't know much about the Daiwa but I think you are over gunned for gear in the upper bay

Where in upper bay sorry i'm new to the place? I'm just new in fishing and tried it for 3 weeks. I was lucky enough to catch a 28" striper on Colt State Park early morning on Clam bait.

J, there are a lot of good places around you. Granted, now isn't the time to be expecting a 30lb striper, but there should be smaller ones and plenty of blues. Working from north to south, try underneath the Henderson Bridge (good early season spot), boldt pt, sabin pt sandbar, the Bullocks Pt harbor outflow (decent for falling tides at night) and Barrington Beach. The bike path runs from Prov to Bristol and crosses the street in downtown Riverside and runs along the water north of Riverside to Providence.

Thanks a lot again. It's been a big help. Just one more question what's the best season or month for striper?
