Help Getting Started

I want to start building my own rods this winter. I am in need of a "mentor" to show me the way. I'd DEFINATELY like to work with Mike but M&D is a little too far away for me....I live in Central MA and Mike is about 1 1/2 hours away (one way). Does anyone know of any classes or "get togethers" in the RI or Central MA area?

Thanks folks......I hope you all made out well this past season.....

Get the book, "Advanced custom rod building" by Dale Clemens. It helped me a lot. Find on ebay sometimes.

as good of a book as that is, it may be a bit advanced for a beginner. in my opinion, the easiest book for someone with zero experience is the Rodbuilding Guide by Kirkman. real good step by step pics and instructions.

I just finished reading the Kirkman book. It is very informative, but I still feel I need someone looking over my shoulder for my first attempt.
