Ron has some dillusion that in the past we have not had alot of entertainment that was geared towards the boat guys......he could not be more mistaken! How do I know this? Because I was the entertainment co-ordinator for the past 2 years and I mixed it up pretty darn good!

Yeah, because all they want to see is boat stuff and you do have to cater to both boat and shore. Remember...you can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time.

Ron, to shorten the conversation I booked entertainment as requested and I did not hear your voice. We had John Pirie on tuna fishing, Crazy Alberto on surf, Steve Shiraka on surf, Ron McKee on surf, Canal Night with #^&#^&#^&#^& Hopwood and the guy from the Army Corps of Engineers, Plug Night twice, Gags twice, Frank Diagnault on fly-fishing, Dave Skok on fly-fishing for albies, a cook your catch night, 2 Christmas parties, the guy with the record striper Ron whats his name (drawing a blank at the moment) and a host of state reps from different programs like herring ladder and river herring restoration and a bunch I can't think of and I think thats a pretty great list of entertainment with a great mix for boat guys, surf guys and fly guys. If you think booking entertainment for the club is easy, think again. I made a concious effort to mix it up and if there was a lack of "boat" themed entertainment I can give you two reasons why....during fishing season they are all fishing, guiding and chartering and in the off season they are all away on vacations and fishing themselves in warmer climates while the snow flies. Since I have been a member of the club (going on 5 years +) the entertainment has never been as good as the last 2 and I will pat myself on the back for doing a great job. Oh, and there was another boat themed guy that was supposed to show up one night and never did and never called to say he could not make it (I forget his name). I tell you something else, its "critics like you that make people like me who volunteer and break their butt doing for others enjoyment wonder why we do it at all sometimes! Volunteer work is often a thankless task. I just take the small pleasures it provides from the few who do express their appreciation for the effort.

Larry,
You need to calm down bud!!!
I don't want to make like you're volunteer work is no appreciated,
But,
I count 1 thing in that list that is boat related
John Pirie, if i remember correctly, they were the guys chasing school blue fin tuna on light tackle about 2 years ago, and the place was packed for that night!!!

Ron...everything is not just boat and surf. There is also fly-fishing, canal fishing is considered a specialty also, you got how-tos for everything from plug building to fly-tying and we have had all that....cooking competitions and all of the fisheries issues speakers we have from time to time. Basically in a year we have 2 meetings that are set...Gags in March and the X-mas party in December. So I had 20 meetings to fill and I don't have all of the people off the top of my head but you know Ron, you book entertainment as it is available and hot and thats what I did...also as you know, boat fish don't count so thats why we don't have boat fisherman too often cause nobody really cares.
