Welcome to MY nightmare
I spent Tuesday at our firms Washington DC office. Its typically a daytrip... YEAH.. RIGHT.... This is what followed.
I leave the DC office 4pm. Get to Reagan at 420ish
(mind you I was checking for delays all day)
Crew for the 5:45 plane is running late, we finally board and leave about 6:15
arrive at Boston at 8ish, circle a few times, try to land TWICE…
NOPE! Lets get diverted to LaGuardia
Get to NY…No hotel rooms ANYWHERE…
They say there is a 3:15 am amtrak or a possible 6-7-8am flight..
We cant stay in the terminal, so I opt for Penn Station and amtrak.
They give me a voucher and off I go..
I share a cab with some government guy who I find out is a bigwig at the EPA.
We get to Penn Station at 10:15. Windows closed at 10.. The 3:15am is full.
We cannot use the vouchers.
In desperation I reserve a seat on the 6:20 Acela.
Dave (my boss) happens to be in NY right? I hop a cab over to the Sheraton and crash on
a cot till 4:30 when I need to leave back to Penn Station for my train.
3 hours of sleep so good!
So I get to Penn Station, 6:20 Acela is canceled.
I am now on the 6:55 NON Acela due to get to Boston at 11am
Needless to say, I will NOT be at work today.
At least Penn Station has WiFi
So I finally get on the train and arrive in Boston 5 hours later.
I get in the car thats waiting for me and go home..
The car drops me off, I go to my door.. Im thinking shower and rest... I reach for my keys - WAIT.. NO KEYS.. I LEFT THEM INSIDE... I had been planning on coming home when my wife was there....
So I am sitting there.. in 20F weather.. prolly closer to 0 with the windchill... with a cellphone with a 99.9% dead battery.. and just enough juice to call my mom with my tail between my legs to come pick me up...
Chinese food tends to make things a little better.. Then we drove 45 mins each way to my wifes work to get her key..
Original ETA.. 8pm Tues evening
Actual ETA.. 5pm Wed Afternoon
Kill me.

"Planes, Trains, and Automobiles"
At least you didn't wake up with John Candy's hand between two pillows. or wipe your face with his dirty shorts.
Very frustrating for sure.

Time to consider taking up drinking. Boy that stinks. Look at it this way, tomorrow and every other day probably can't get much worse.

Bad weather delays have certainly become less tolerable since the Long Island Railroad took the bar cars off the trains

Should have hopped on those chinatown buses for ten bucks. They run every hour or so. Not sure of when the last bus was but it should have gotten you back downtown Boston that night.

They usually run up until midnight. They're $15 now because of the pressure placed on them by Peter Pan and Greyhound trying to sue them over the $10 deal.
