Great place to catch large shiners also...was there when the big Snappa bit the hand of the little boy many years ago

I would rather have been doing that than working on the boat....

I've got quite a few pics from when mine where young.

Great memories.

That is great. My three went both days over the weekend and we caught nothing but sticks. It's about the fun, lots of lure changes, splashing, rock throwing....They had a great time and can't wait to do it again....

Its pics like that one that show the reason I fish.

Trust me, your kid (or any kid you take fishing) will remember that day and look up to you longer then you will ever know. I know this for a fact.

Guys, everyone should make it a point to take a few kids fishing that don't get much of a chance each season. I try and take a few of my kids friends each year on a nice sunny day. I make it a kids day. Let them drive the boat, catch a bunch of fish, take a few action photos, eat a nice lunch on the water. And I tell you when you run into them in the middle of the winter...they warm your heart recalling the trip which you though was just another day on the water. There is one warning though...., in the case of the single moms...I can't tell you how greatful they are for entertaining their kid for the day

Great stuff guys! I introduced my girlfriends 13yr old nephew to bottom fishing last year and not knowing how he'd handle an all day trip on the ocean, I was a little concerned. The kid was a champ, caught his first cod and haddock and was hooked on it immediately! He was actually bummed out that the boat had to return home. I've since taken him on several more trips and even bought him a nice penn reel and custom rod for his birthday this week. Kid had tears in his eyes and we break it in next week!
