4 Years...In Memory Of My Dad!
It was 4 years ago tomorrow morning I lost my Dad suddenly. The 21st of May is always tough for me since and each year, on the 21st of May, I do the one thing that helps me through.....I go fishing in honor of my Dad because I think that is the one thing he would want me to do most at such a time. So I venture out in the morning, this year with my buddies Slingah and Joey G, and hope for favorable conditions and maybe a nice fish.....one I can think maybe my Dad put on the hook for me!
Tomorrow is in honor of a great Father, forever missed.

Larry,
I hope you have a GREAT day in honor of your dad!
I hope to get to the beach with you soon when school is FINALLY done !!!
Maybe then I'll finally be able to finish painting my Bigfish/Raider plugs and catch something LARGE from the sand with them!!!
But till then, go catch that 40-50 lb fish in honor of your dad!

Thanks for the kind words and good wishes guys. No 50 but a great morning with Joey G and Slingah for sure! We got into fish right off the bat with Joey G hooking up on his pencil/teaser combo....he hammered fish all morning, doubling up many times but many fish were just keying on his teaser. Some were so small we decided they were too small to call schoolies so we called them "pre-schoolies"! Joey G lipped over 30 striped ones...he be da man! Slingah started off his day with a first cast hook up on his own handmade pencil popper.....Slingah got fish through out the morning on several different plugs from the pencil to storm baits to a small howdy type plug I had given him.....I think he ended up with about a dozen fish! Slingah and Joey G are truely great fishermen....they work some real magic on the water to be sure! I got off to a quick start also....lipped one inside of 10 casts on that small white/red head howdy type plug I have been doing well with, then lost that nice small yellow popper I posted pics of the other day on a fish that swallowed it and as I set on him, there was a rock between me and him and the line snapped immediately....plug gone! Put on one of my small jointed poppers and had a nice fish take it immediately.....not too big, about 20 inches.....things got quiet for me for awhile but the last half hour I put on one of my favorites....a Gibbs white/red head 1 oz. pencil with a bucktail and put on a last minute show taking 7 more fish quickly with the largest being just short of 28 inches......the last fish I got on my last cast, raised it up and released it and called it a day! I think someone was up there watching! Thanks again Slingah and Joey G! Great way to spend a morning!

I hear Larry. As I get older I realize my pop won't be around forever, its something I try not to think about but do more often year after year. I hope this kinda thread gets seen more and people put the real prioritys in prespective.

Goose...I can tell you honestly, I can say I never took my Dad for granted! Even as a small boy, I knew he would not be around forever! Enjoy every moment with your Dad while you can...I hope you have many more years worth of memories together!

There's nothin like dads. It's tough to be truly empathetic when your dad is still around. I can't even begin to think about that sorrow. I'm sure he is proud of you and your unbelievable new plug making skills!

Glad you had such a great day Larry...like Rappin Mikey said....I also can't imagine that sorrow, I'm sure you made him proud....I remember my Dad waking me up early in the morning to go trout fishing...times that I will never forget....Stuff like this makes me try even harder to be the best Dad I can for my kids.

My dad was a suit wearing bank executive who only went fishing with me because it was something I enjoyed doing. He passed away suddenly in 1987. The fondest fishing memory I have with my father was freshwater fishing here in town and him catching a small bass. He was using one of my spinning combos and I remember him holding the rod upside down and reeling it in backwards. The thought still brings a smile to my face.
Nice job BF.
