WAS IT A BLUE?

I was fishing yesterday and catching nothing but smalls.
I always fish worms floating them about 10 - 18 inches off bottom.
My rod goes down and the line starts screaming.
I pull back and YAHOO!! Fish on. then nothing. I'm thinking he is swimming at me. I soon figured out the fish was gone but I was still getting bend in the rod.
The current was strong so I figure weed has my line now.
I reel in and my steel leader is bit off right below the eye.
I'm figuring this was a bluefish but can't help wondering.
Did that bluefish inhale my line hook and float and bite off at the top of the leader and is he swimming around now with all that in him?
I thought we were supposed to use steel leaders so that wouldn't happen.
Oh well that's why they call it fishing right?
BUT after all the fish I caught I can't stop thinking about the one that got away. GO FIGURE?

"It's not about the fish, it's about fishing for the fish. The fish is gravy."
