Korker Mod. Strap ???

I am doing the DZ mod. on my korkers (because I almost fell on my a$$ last night), I just finished replacing the studs with stainless bolts. Does anyone have a pic of how to replace the straps with garden hose? Not sure how it's done.

I could never understand why guys where them type korkers with the risk you looseing them or having to sock them down so tight that there uncomfortable. I don't know..it just looks like a pain in the a$$. There are so many good qaulity korked boots to pick from with better support and replacable korked soles,,,try it I'm sure you'll like it. spend the extra money..like any thing else> u get what u pay 4

I'm useing the Henery Forks(Orvis)w/studded soles. They have excellent support but they take a few trips before the studds protrude and become aggrreessiivve. You really can't go wrong with replacable studded soles for about 25$

you get what you pay for??? Korkers are the best!! there is nothing better, spend some time in the bubble weed out on block island, those felt sole with tiny little studs will cause a broken neck! Korkers are the best!

I am puzzled. I buy a 3 dollar roll of duct tape a year. I tie my Korkers on and then 3 wraps of duct tape. They never fall off. I replace the tape every couple of weeks and I am on the rocks almost every night. Has worked for me for about 10 or 12 years after I lost a Korker at Deep Hole.

On the wet rock studded boots are fine but on the big high dry granite rocks we have here they will land u on ur butt big time.I have been usin the hodgeman korkers an they been holding up pretty well so far.I kinda change the laces an the pull down configuration.They are great for the big weed rocks also as the studs sit in a little bump on the bottom of the korker to kinda elevate them (make the studs longer to cut through the weed)

What size nuts and bolts?Are you doing anything besides pushing the bolts thru
the existing holes and threading on the nuts?

I've always used duct tape on the straps.Works fine.

I used Stainless Pan Phillips Machine Screws, Size 10
24 x 3/4". Put them thru the existing holes with a washer on eash end. I used regular nuts and put a drop of threadlock on them.

The replaceables soles are carbide tipped which have much greater bite compared to stainless....which makes it a more aggressive korker. Thers nothin tiny or little about that.

I have the Korker model (not sure which one) that has the hard cups at front and back with straps with one Fastex buckle.
I wore the original studs out in about about 4 steps from my truck, and within a year had to replace them. When I tried to replace them last year, about half of the studs snapped off. On T. Lapinski's advice (before DZ's article), I drilled them out on the big press, P.I.T.A. He told me to go with 1 inch to 2 inch bolts. So I put in 1 1/2 inch 1 quarter inch bolts with lock washers. The traction of these things is unparalleled. When I showed him them, it seems I did a little over kill cause I apparently was supposed to use similar sized as fishaholic used. Oh well. I have walked way too many miles in all types of terrain with them. I have never had a problem with the straps coming off or loosening either.
Only draw back is they weigh about 10 pounds a piece. Keeps me anchored to the rocks a little better.

Those are the correct size screws - you can go larger like redlite if you want to climb everest. Longer screws may cause you to trip so be carefull.
As far as attaching the garden hose to replace the straps: Use some of the existing spike holes. In some cases you may have to use a one inch screw for the straps depending on the thickness of the hose.
Eventually the screws will wear down and need to be replaced, this all depends on the terrain you fish.
