Striper TV

Great day for numbers (50-60)yesterday, nothing over 6 lbs, but the most interesting part of the day was when my friend from NY lowered the video camera on his catch cam. I always knew there were a lot of wintering stripers there, but oh my God. When you got the camera into the heart of the school it was wall to wall swimming stripers, some small....some not so small . Some tagged fish and even one weakfish, which came on during the commercial break . If I had unlimited funds that would be a really nice way to really check out what lurks beneath the boat on some of those ledges I fish. If I could talk Fish Eye into diving beside me to radio information, next cast Bob 30 degrees left and let it sink to 20 feet .

That's awesome GS, post some pitures. you did get some right?
Sounds like that's a little better than 2 fishfinders. but it is also cheating.

I shot a short video with my Sony digital camera, but I forgot I did that and I've not even checked to see if it came out. The Monitor is fairly deep and you see the picture in the rear of the monitor, so I'm afraid the glare from the front lens might screw up the pictures. With the 6 red leds on the camera head, I was amazed at how bright and clear the pictures were. It would be hard to say how far you could see, especially considering that water isn't even close to clear, but at least 4 fish deep .

Slip, I'll bet you'd like to take a slow drive down a certain canal with that thing right . If the mpeg video comes out, is there a way to put a link to it if I upload it to my server? I could email it to John as well and he could fool with it, but I've got to get it out of the boat first.

I would love to see that footage

Hey Bob, how much does one of them there gizmos' go for?
I saw one here in CT. the guy at the bait store had one and he put it in the minnow tank, and the view was in the other room.
It was pretty cool, like watching TV. I think the model he had was something to the effect of like $500.00 big ones. Was going to head up to the Thames this morning, but we called it off, thought it was going to be all snow.

The video I took is grim, too much reflection off the outside screen as I suspected. What you really need is to bring along a camcorder with a video in jack, because then you could record it all in perfect clarity. Those two items, I would think are probably a big part of a lot of those higher paid freshwater tournament wizards. I haven't a clue what they cost John and unless someone gave one to me, I'd be hard pressed to justify that expense.

How would the camera stand up if you casted it from shore? You'd need an old Penn Squidder I guess...

I have seen the same MC2X with the 120' cable for $390.

There is a new SV series (smart View) that has 11 multi colored lights which can view in total darkness,It also has an on screen temperature reading at camera's depth and direct-tech on screen direction indicator and video out jack for video recording. saw it at the show selling for $520.
