which tuna's are good to eat.
I know taste varies a lot but which of the tuna we have around here are good to eat ? And if you keep a tuna do you need to bleed it or do anything special to it other than to ice it down ?
My dad has a friend who goes offshore a lot and he caught some yellowfin, which he released as he did not know if they were good to eat ??
I know albies are a no and bluefin a definite yes. What about bonita ?

Yellowfin are good eating.
Bonito is also fantastic. It's really a mackerel (like wahoo, Spanish and King), not a tuna.

Diggin Jiggin, you need to bleed them and ice them pronto. You cut them above the fork in the tail about 2 -3 inches above on both sides. Then you put a slice just behind there pectoral fin on both sides, let them bleed good, gut them and flush with water, then pack the stomach with ice and cover with ice. then fillet when you get back to the dock. Yummy!!!
