RI Boating and PWC - class?
My sister and bro-in law just bought some jet skis. they told me you need a licence in RI to operate I thought they were nuts. They sent me a brochure that says you need to take a class. So, what do you get from the class? Do you have to carry something with you that proves you took the class?

To get the license you have to watch a couple of videos and listen to some lecture. not much. The coastgaurd auxilary class covers this + more. We took it this spring. I have been boating all of my life, and it was about 99% review and I aced the test. For my wife, it was 99% new material, and she did OK on the test. However, she retained nothing, other than maybe red right return, and thats it.
But if you don't really know much about boating, then I would say take it.

also, you need the license if you were born after a certain date, can't remember what it was, but bascically the goal is that eventually all boaters will be licenesed.
