Can anyone help?

I just found out from the Emergency Management agency in Petal, MS that the town that my folks live in is gone. They told me that they were hit as hard as Biloxi & Gulfport and that the extent of the damage was the same, but without the water.

My family has been struggling to find an outlet for communications since the mainstream media is being strangely silent on the full extent of the horrific damage that has occurred inland.

Does anybody know if there are any forums out there that one can go to in order to get emergency information on a specific town?

My siblings have informed me that it may be possible that my Sister and Parents may have tried to ride the storm out in assuming that they would not be affected so far inland.

We are getting extremely concerned about their well being and whereabouts at this point as we are becoming more and more stressed with each passing hour without having access to any information.

Can anyone offer information that can help us to get closer to Petal Mississippi?

We would appreciate it more than you know.

and go to Missisippi
maybe there is a listing of survivors from shelters and such.

I hope they are ok, it's still early and I am sure the chaos isn't helping any.

be positive, we'll pray for you also.

also try google put in forums survivors hurricane katrina

Don,
I work with a woman who husband is attached to a DMAT group. He said it may take a while (10 tp 14 days)to get all the names of the people that are misplaced or out of contact with loved ones.

You may want to try their web sites. Sorry i know this dosen't help much. Thought and prayers .

Bliz - Let me know if you can find one. We have freinds (my wife works with) in Gulfport before the storm and have not heard of anything at all.

What a tragedy!

May God Bless all the people who have to suffer such a tragedy. 7000 National Guards are being deployed to aid victims of Katrina. Is 7000 enough? I don't think so... Why aren't more effort being put in aid and recovery of New Orleans? Well it's simple, no funds. 42% of flood funds were cut in 2001. Where do you think the funds went? Take a guess...

So what do you think of Bush now?

I heard 21,000 being deployed fromReuters with more to come and flood funds are being cut because the insurance companies consider them high risk areas.

FEMA is currently being investigated for massive fraud dating back to 9/11 and all the subsequent hurricanes since then. How can an agency that gives 29 million dollars away to an area(Miami) that had'nt suffered any catastrify be taken seriously when asking for more $$$$$

Frauds and Corruptions unveiled!

That's crazy man! When %$%$%$%$ happens everyone likes to point fingers...

Bottomline, we need money!!! Why don't we tax Corporate America? They're the one with all the cash. I can't even afford gas prices how the hell do Bush expect people like myself to donate. In the end, they'll be more tax cuts...

Nothing yet.

The more I hear, the more grim is the reality of this event ...

I heard that a guy fatally shot his sister in the head over a bag of ice in Hattiesburg... A Police Officer in Petal is quoted as saying that Petal was "destroyed"...

I have been on the internet and the telephone since last night, and have been praying to find out anything.

The rest of my family has been doing the same.

I will be trying MSNBC, and I'll report on anything that I may find that may be useful for anyone else looking for loved ones.

Don - keep the hope strong. My wife's friend and family have all survived and they were in Gulfport which got hammered. They just got in touch today as someone had to go an find them. Keep the faith.

THEY'RE OKAY!

Thank God!!!

My folks made it!...

We just got news that they had made it through the hurricaine.

Special thanks to those who offered their support.

This has been an extremely tense time for me and my family.

My Sister pulled through as well, and sustained some heavy damage that is fixable...

Bottom line is that everyone is okay!
