Those gloves are sweet but they need to make a bigger size. I'm stuck using XL mechanics gloves for now.

yep, it sucks when your taken -em off because of poor circulation from wearing a size thats just a little to small...

I started wearing them (again) when I went to get fingerprinted for a license and the cop saw my hands and said, "come back when your hands heal up, they are pretty chewed up". I now wear those gloves while I am scalloping...My XL's fit perfect and they save my hands from exposure to cold winds as well as when I have to shuck'em too. Every now and again you get one with a shell that is like a rusty razor..I love em and plan on geting a second pair. I also have the heavier glacer gloves, they are heavier but they do not keep my hands as warm for some reason and you don't have the dextarity of the thinner glove. I use them as backup gloves. I was very impressed how they held up to casting braid this season, the finger looks fine...they are pretty rugged given their small thickness. Good product.

same thing happened to me when I got fingerprinted for my lic. The cop said wtf do you do? those little slices show up all over the place when you fingerprint...
those neoprenes dont do jack w/o liners
I have a pair of neo dive gloves for hauling the anchor and crab pots in the fall..
then I switch to no gloves or fingerless wool if its cold.
In the surf its the same fingerless and maybe a pair of waterproof fleece if I'm going to be walking alot before fishing

I like them too ...a lot.Finger does wear out in time but then again so does any other glove.I usually buy few 2 mm pairs from nrs every spring to get me thru the year.By the end of the year they are in trash as braid tear up the neoprene.Aquaskinz are thin but are surprisingly strong although if you are fond of jigging with 3 or 4 ounce of lead ,these might not be what you are looking for.But darn it ,they "feel" so good on a hand ,the first glove I never had to take of to tie knots,even at night without the light .Gets my thumbs up

we're having a real love fest here aren't we, curiously over a clothing item that while it aparently does some things well, ie. keeping your hands from being scratched, is a total failure at doing the one thing that most people put a glove on for, namely to keep their hands warm. they have a zero warmth index but hey they are very stealthy being black.

You are way off.....
I don't wear a gloves to keep my hands warm.I wear gloves so I don't have to tape a finger while using braid.I haven't fished without a glove in at least five years.I only wear a full right hand glove while on left hand I cut all the fingers (on all gloves other than Aquaskinz) to protect the thumb from bass.Because Aquaskinz are so thin I don't need to cut the left glove any more

Gloves for warmth? ... sissy wear those

They are mediocre in the warmth department in late fall when your hands were wet and its 30 something out but they are no colder than most gloves and warmer than some. I like them when spinning with braid and I like them thumbing a conventional - only one I've found that I can cast well thumbing a spool - that alone is worth the price of admission for me... I've only worn mine a dozen times or so this fall but I like them and to me, they are a piece of gear to use when the time is right.... And when I wear them out I'll probably keep the middle finger's brother for casting braid

Firstly, they are not intended for extreme cold, they are not advertised as such.

But let's consider how much colder the hands would be without them. If you choose to go with a thicker, warmer glove, you sacrifice usability & dexterity. It's a common dilema. One is always going to be sacrificed for the other.

I think we have found a sort of happy median with functionality, comfort usability and a degree of warmth even when it's cold out. Sub-freezing weather is not their intended purpose.

If you want just the toasty warmth, go with a 7 mm dry suit glove or similar, which you have to remove everytime you need to get or do something which is almost useless for what we need/do. The other option, don't go out in the cold which is not the best option since it is usually the time of the LARGE which we are all after.

And yes, they are just a piece of clothing, just like it is just a rod, a snap, a reel, a swivel, a type of line, a wader ect., they are all connected to one another since we need/use them all at given times to better enjoy our chosen sport/pastime. They are all just something....they are our pieces of gear, each has its place and is part of our arsenal of tools when we are out on the water.

I own the Skinz gloves. They're good and work into mid-October before its too cold for them.
There are tons of options for gloves, especially divers gloves from 1.5, 2, 3mm neo, that will keep your hands warm and offer a degree of dexterity. They also make gaunlet style gloves that really keep the water out, one of the bigger issues I have with the skinz. They fill up like a ballon when dunked.

Going on the wetsuit idea, I bet a really thin neoprene using something that is hydrophobic on the outside to stop the evaporative cooling would be a great cold weather glove. Henderson has "Insta-Dry Hyperstretch" wetsuits; that sort of neoprene would probably make a great glove.

I love my Aquaskinz gloves, they are the best I have found I do squeeze into the XL just fine. I also got some thin liners from K Mart that cost $1.00 for 2 pairs. my hands did get wet but not cold.I could tie knots and unclip snaps with the glove on. I tore one up Last weekend so I will be getting more soon.

No they aren't just for fishing anymore
I found a good use for mine the past few days, I was installing cabinets in a new house where there was no heat or electric, we did have a propane heater but that just takes off the chill. I was able to handle my tools fine with the gloves on and the cold metal from the tools didn't affect me which it would have if I didn't have the gloves. I can't do certain things with gloves on but these are nice and thin unlike other gloves. good gloves, even though the straps fell off don't need them anyway.

not for nothing in regard to this discussion about the Skinz gloves, but did anyone every consider wearing latex gloves under the Aqua Skinz gloves. The latez would keep your hands dry. Not the the lightest textured latex gloves, but the ones that are blues and would last all day even if you had to take them off and on once or twice. Their like a second skin. I wear them at work fingerprinting people because I don't want the black ink becoming a permanent skin tone. It would solve anyones gripe about the wet factor.
