First aid at sea

Guys, I came across a nice stocking stuffer. This is one of those books you hope you never have to look at but will be glad you have it when you need it.

A Comprehensive
Guide to
Marine Medicine

isbn:0965976823
by Eric A. Weiss, M.D. & Michael Jacobs, M.D.

This is a small paperback book (4x6" size) that can fit inside your first aid kit and quite frankly is something I have been looking for for quite some time. A lot more then the pamflet that comes in most first aid kits 286pg.. It covers everything you would need to do for just about any mishap on board a boat. A GREAT ref. While I have met Dr. jacobs a number of times I don't know him all that well but know he is a Dr. here and is really into sailing. I am not pushing this because I met him but because this is one of those things that boaters should really have on board. It's the next best thing to having a doctor on board, and after hearing the raido broadcast last summer of the guy out at the canyon with a gaff in his face and the CG trying to walk him thru what to do next, this little book might have been welcomed...esp if there is no one to talk to. My favorite parts are the "when to worry" segments.
I know it is available at landfall but I think amazon and other places have it too, my local bookshop had it but Jacobs lives here. (about 16 bucks)

Thumbs up great idea

sandman....i was thinking the same thing the other day as i watched a kayaker struggle to remove a treble hook out of his chin and man was he freaking out.....mainly because he couldnt see himself without a small mirror.....which would be the perfect companion to that book and if nothing else would be an excellent signal mirror if in trouble as is that cd rom that you decide to just throw away because it has that perfect peep hole in it to see thru and what your signaling.
