BUNKER flatwing. this is what I came up with. took a pic of the fish an then tied one. seems when I took the pic of both, the bunker came out darker an lost it silver color! any one else got any BUNKER FLATWINGS, Im always looking for different patterns.
GOOD LUCK GOOD TYIN

I've posted this one before but here it is again, Ken A's RLS Crazy Menhaden. I have had great success with large fish on this one. It really is a great pattern. 12"- 6/0

I've played around with flatwings to imitate Pogies and Herring, but I don't think you can get a deep enough profile. Here's a mixed school of Herring and Pogies tied with Mega Mushy stuff

Offshore, With flatwings you can get as deep a profile as you want, both hieght wise and most importantly when viewed from below. You must use the right texture bucktail and go with either a bump in the body braid, wich is the way I do it , or reverse tie the hair. The more you flair it the wider it will be. If you flair the hair 90 deg from the shank and run it under hot water when your done you might be amazed how wide the fly gets and it puffs out even more in the water.
