When you gonna start fishing again ?

I usually hit Onset the 3r'd week in April, little curly grub jigs..or sea worms (never know what you might get) .

Then I fish for flounders and 'togs at PP bridge for a couple weeks..then the canal starts.

Trout fishing the end of the month into april as well as a little Large Mouth fishing in the local ponds April into May......then Mid May I'll start targeting the Striped ones.

I never stopped. Between ice fishing and going for holdovers I got around 15-20 trips under my belt this winter. My schedule usually goes like this: 1st week of April till the end of the first week of May I fish the Tames. 1st week of May until the middle of June I primarily fish the CT River in Western MA (my neck of the woods) with weekend trips to the Cape and RI. From Mid June through September I focus on the outer beaches of the Cape with various trips to different areas. I hope this year to make many more of these various trips to fish new waters for me. From the end of Sept to about December I fish RI waters. Then the cycle repeats.

First a week in Pulaski not sure yet if that's next week or the one after. Then Pike in the local river, smallies on the 5 weight in another, a little trout fishing and then it should be Striper time....

Late April Into May Weather Allowing

Though I gave up hooking small bass with little baits years ago.

I like to toss big top swimmers and hope to dredge up an early keeper holdover or fresh arrival looking for herring.... pikies, dannys, round noses, pencils, and spooks.

So if no fish its fun to toss and see how some new plugs swim or to test new lines and rods. Loosen up and get some fishing exercise.

Mike

Good health and family

First week of May I hit some of the inlets and warm water areas. Freshwater pole with 6 pound test. Sling some small rubber, see if the waders still fit and are waterproof and enjoy the fresh air.

Usually the day after going to MSBA show....just because I can't let any new purchases like reels, plugs, etc go without a test drive......

Honestly....I will go a couple times in late april but they are more exploritory trips then fishing. In april I have all the line replaced on the reels I plan to use this season. I will start fishing in early May. The fist thing I will be looking for in ernest is squid! By late May I will be surf fishing pretty hard thru mid June. Moslty surf but I will run over to BB in the boat for some spring tog if I can find them.

Looking foreward to this season....eels or no eels, herring or no herring. Have custom-plugs-will-travel.

Also have a special visitor this year for a few weeks, and he is bringing his boat...this is gonna be fun!

maybe next week after this coming weekend....if the weatherman is right. Suppose to be high 50s to low 60s. few days of that and the holdovers will get active in a few spots I know in SoCo

No boat, back in the suds.

Anytime after St Patricks day may find fish in a couple of RI early season open water spots. Sometimes even earlier. Not river holdover , fresh run fish. This year maybe a little later but I got to think this warm weekend coming up may get us back on track as far as timing goes.
