The reason I ask is, I will be fishing with my wife again. We are pretty low key about this event but enjoy the people that fish it and the spirit of the crowd that comes over. I was wondering if one (or maybe two) of you guy(s) (and/or gal(s)) would like to fish with us? I am about to send in my form. I generally just fish with my wife but she asked if we wanted to take someone who was unfamiliar with the place this year.
Warning: we are not hard-core fly guys...while I consider myself a pretty experienced surf caster and boat fishermen and know the island I am a relative newbie when it comes to fly-casting in the salt. When the conditions are right I do enjoy it though. My wife is the same.
I will have done a lot of surfcasting (with big gear) prior to the event and will know where to go (I live year round here so I know the place). I have a big truck and will drive. I can't take a crowd but one or two fisherpersons is OK. I tend to fish in relative easy spots for this event (because my wife is afraid of big waves at night) and try to stay out of the heavy weather/seas if it is blowing like stink. (Which it has been in past years, although last year was quite nice) We usually catch a few fish and have a good time no matter what.
Anyway, if you are a reasonably polite person(s) and want to come along, let me know, maybe we can hook up.
If you have your own team, maybe I'll see you at the breakfast!

Someone should take Jim up on this offer as he is very knowledgable about the Vineyard and can show you some great spots. Had the pleasure of fishing with him during the derby last fall.

Jim, I'm not sure what my situation is yet. I'm a guest in a loose sort of way and need to find out if I'm expected to be paired up with one of the gang of fishing buddies that will be there.
I probably won't know any more until mid May due to work and vacation issues. Either way, I would like to fish with you at some point during my stay, even if it's not during the tourney.

Best regards,
Roger
