Are you holding out?

I'm not referring to spots but anything and everything else. This site is loaded with awsome info as we all know and share but is there something that you do, have rigged ect. ect. that you will not spill? A simple yes or no will do.

I know there's a handfull of guys that will go to their graves with what they consider "the anglers edge".... and i also know that theres a handfull who think we're @holes.

"we're"? that means you are one of the holdouts? if you are that is not such a bad thing and I don't blame you. But I would think that before one goes off to that great cuttyhunk in the sky, they'd try to pass on some of those secrets since I bet alot was passed on to them also thru the years.
or maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.
I just like the way when I speak to a guy like Stan Kuzia, that he will tell you lots in a conversation, he's not holding back I don't think. I respect that.

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.

1984 was a warning, not a guidebook!

It's time more people spoke up with the truth. Every time we let a leftist lie go uncorrected, the commies get stronger.

Getting hard to find productive spots

Gas prices are killing the old scoutem out routine. I've caught lots of schoolies through the years but I can count the keepers on one hand. Only 1 30# fish. I would love to bag one for the grill. Just haven't been to lucky or fish too much with the fly stick. I still haven't hit my first schoolie yet for this year. I gone out about 6-8 times. My tried and true spots aren't working and gas is keeping me from exploring. I think it's going to be a tough year.

Put me in the second group... To people I have fished with on more than one occasion, I am an open book. The downside of that, is I am more like a leaflet, than a book per say.

Doesn't anyone take off their producing lure as they walking the surf or is that just in books? You take car racing for example: they'll keep a tiny secret secret because it took year$ for them to drop one second or even 1/2 a second, fishing isn't any different. I say 99.9 of everything I know but if I'm asked to stay hush then I'm only as good as my word.

I am sorry I don't like to brag or tell tails, I have also been known to lose fish because I dropped my rod when another beach buggy drives by. I don't like crowds and lose lips sinks ships. if I come to fish a spot and there are alot of others fishing I go find another.

I don't know - I think it is balance. Some things given to you in confidence should stay in confidence, some info you have earned through doing don't necessarily spill all the beans but give out a drible and a dabble. Paraphrasing a little here but some say that the journey to gain the knowledge can often BE the knowledge. If someone shows / tells me something it doesn't mean that I know it. I still need to learn it...

So from another angle, if you KNOW something and it is really good, what's better? To give the knowledge in one fell swoop? Or to give bits and pieces and guide someone until they LEARN it? I have found that the few things that have penetrated my skull are clearer and sharper when I have learned on my own or someone guided my thinking rather than someone saying go here and cast there... This knowledge might shorten the learning curve a bit but it does not elimiate the learning curve. It still must be learned...

I can't say I would post a spot online for all to see, but if I get talking to someone who knows the area I may spill a little. Also there are very few "secret" spots left these days, but there are a few, and some are obvious fishing spots (breakwaters, river outflows, rocky coves) that people are automatically always going to go to.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

I am happy to share what little knowledge I have gained through my own personal time on the water.

What I have learned from personal discussions with others regarding what THEY learned from time on the water, however, I keep to myself, as it is their "lessons learned" and not mine. It is the result of their work, time, and experimentation, and therefore it is their choice what to do with it.

yes, definatly.. Just cannot trust people been let down far to many times..Its why I dont fish with many people..Most of the time I like to be alone. But I will share info freely with a couple people, they know who they are.I may let out 99% of what I do with an eel...but there is that 1% I keep all to myself and always will.....

I have seen it happen when Old Salts I know who wouldn't give ya the time of day yrs.ago All of the sudden have a change of heart an are willing to spew to whoever will have their ear..
When it comes down to it.It's still just common sense.
It's all the little nuances u can read about em in some books or magazines,or have someone tell ya.
Till u experience them for urself though it won't click in.
Time on the water is the real secret..
That said i share some an keep the real jewels to myself..

When people fished for a living or survival ,from shore it was all about secrets . Cup the lure your using in your hand so no one can see and stop fishing and leave .. I like most rec guys share ,,, If I had to survive by my fishing things would be different .
