What would you get if you had to get a new prop for your Yamaha 150 HPDI aluminum or stainless and why? Have aluminum now and turns 5600 rpm and 42 mph.

allum. can bend or flex and you can lose some speed

Here's the deal, stainless doesn't bend/flex therefore you get better performance. Because it doesn't bend if you hit something hard, you can junk your whole lower unit.

As mentioned aluminum bends therefore if you hit a rock, you are most likely not going to loose your entire lower unit.

Thanks guys I am going with the SST my biggest trouble is with hitting lobster pots at night and bending the blades. I think with the SST it will bounce off or cut the line so no harm done to boat or prop just to the pot. Now if I fished like Clammer I would get a rubber prop for the rocks

Greg your all about the bling bling, buuuuut you hit a rock with stainless you bend shaft ,,, alum can be repaired. a litttle better out of the hole....so what, you ain't gonne punch it! not like your gonna run and gun.

What make, model and size is on there now? Sounds like pretty good performance already.

I currently run a Yamaha Saltwater Series 15.25" X 15 on my 150 HPDI and I picked up a Yamaha Performance Series 14.25" X 18 to try out this season as well.

gf I had a 15.25x15 alum. on it and got very good service from it but did have it fixed twice do to lobster pots. This last hit one of the blades tore and I just think I may get bet resultes with the sst in this case.

IMHO, if your hitting anything, stay away from SS props. I myself have an aluminum just becasue fishing in shallow water you never know. Sure the ss have mush better performance qualities, but if you hit somthing say goodbye to your lower unit or outdrive.
