Copper rod?

A friend, whose father just passed away, asked me to look at a rod his father bought for himself when he was just 16 years old. There are no markings or stamps, but is made of barillium copper...........
Any of you historians familiar with this?

Yeah, I've got a couple of them steel rods too. Hex shaped. I think mine were made by Heddon if I'm not mistaken.

I got a few of them.
I got a stretched copper rod by Penn Rod Co. still in the package NBF. Amazing how they made them . It would cost a few $$ today to do it like that. I also have a few telescopic rods.

I have an old aluminum fly rod from about 1967. I was always amazed that it didn't just kink and break.
