Should we close the Reports section on these boards?

By intention it does not get used much and should only be used in generalities - should we close the Reports section of this board? I've been contemplating it for a while but want to see what you all think?

I say shut her down. alot of info goes to lurkers.

I think all here who fish, know where to fish. If you don't know where, hit up your local tackle shop.

By the way, they're here, so go fishing.

I say no, but should be available to members only, with a minimum of say one to three months since joining. I have seen the reports forum in a kayak site to be very open with none of the spot burning BS. Share as you want, via PM or members only forum.

I think NF has a great idea here, if our members decide to actually post reports if would be cool, it is possible to give a location in a report and not give away the farm. Those in the know about particular locations should be able to figure it out .

I like nightfighters idea. members only report forum with length of membership requirement. You might even add a minimum post requirement too. Something significant , not just 10 posts and 1 day.

Rather than reports how about just pictures of fish caught by members during the week or the month or something like that?

Seeing pictures of other guys with large makes me want to get out there more.

I like that Idea....I like to live vicariously through everyone else...especially when I'm not catching

I'll say "no".
If it was a forcast as to where the fish willbe that would be one thing.

No one on this board fishes much in maine anyways so it's pointless for me.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Look at length of time for some members who rarely post if at all...all they do is read. Number of posts would have to be a factor for access.

But I still think PMs and calls work for anyone who really wants to share with friends.

Maybe right, but if I see a new post, I'm always looking.....out of interest for trends, not to get in the truck and burn three dollar a gallon fuel to jump in your spot! While we don't market our spots up here, they're known if accessible.

It's good to read about when people are having success. Especially since if I'm online, I'm not fishing.

Access only for participating members makes sense. How about number of posts made between December and March be made a factor.

Hold on now. I might have a problem with this point of view. If someone has been a longtime member but hasn't posted much if at all, does that make him a lesser member in another club? Forgive me, but I will use Smokey as an example. He was one of the first members I met here, though Saltheart, and though he might not post much, I would have a problem 'excluding' him for reading but not posting. Sorry Skitterpop, but I think one of the great things about this site is the lack of exclusivity. Maybe we move the reports section onto the Ledge!

Ok ...lets go I`m only agreeing with previous posts to this matter... members who contribute by posting on a regular basis are contributing.

I voted close it down

Ax it.....someone gives reports they are spot burning.....like someone else said we can do all the spot burning in here.....and if we arent burning spots here the "report chasers" will just look to other sites to get their info

Simplify.......

Even if it was done with a secret password given to only select members, who's gonna give up their secrets to others?

What is the best balance on reports? Don't know but that is why I put this poll up. I think some reports can and should be shared but among groups, not the world - not a knock on anyone or the public at large but passed on the WOM to the public at small....

Yeah, maybe your right John. I guess stuff like "I got a few 20# ers last night on swimmers after dark, so get out there and catch.", would be good. Maybe pix to?

As far as having a private reports forum that's not really a good idea either. That could cause animosity between people as it did once before
with a certain other private forum.

Its either keep a public Reports forum or scrap it altogether.
