back from my MV trip last week... report

I have been going to MV for 5 years now and this trip has been the worste weather wize. I only fished 4 out of the 7 days because of wind and weeds.... i can deal with the rain. The 4 days I could fish were fantastic! The best day was thursday, 77 stripers landed (we didn't count the blue fish). All fish were keeper size and over with the biggest being 42" and all these fish were extremely fat! The highlights of the trip was seeing a baby blue fin tuna jump 50 ft from my bow. a school of dolphins, squid jumping out of the water as they were being chased by blues and stripers, and the most incredible thing was a 300lb thresher shark hitting a keeper striper off my friends line as he passed by my boat. Weds evening was incredible...... I have never seen so many fish and bait in one area... In 40ft of water my Lowrance was solid with bait and stripers. The best part was that I was the only boat out there I could keep raving but I won't, I think you get the idea.

Rag, Sounds like you had a pretty good time dispite the weather. Sorry I missed you but I did run into a fishing shack load of SB.com'ers over on Chappy that seemed to be doing pretty good from the beach too.

I wish the weather was better last week. The wind and rain was starting getting on my nerves. It was pretty cool on some days for June too. I have been cherry picking the tides when the weather is in sync and doing OK myself.

77, that is huh? leme guess, squid?

Any fluke?

It is hard to plan a trip in advance and then have the weather bomb out. But that this an element of the game I guess.

see you next year?

I didn't do alot of fluking, I did catch a few 20+ inchers off of Tashmoo. With the limited boat time because of the weather we pretty much targeted bass and blues. I didn't have my digital camera this trip (forgot to pack it). I bought a few disposable cameras to cover me on the island. Sandman I would have liked to fish with you, maybe next year!

Was over this weekend as well....saw Sandman on Chappy as well...

Saturday morning (midnight till 5:00am) was a great...we slayed them all keepers up to 45'' (Rubbah storms and darters). No pix as we did not want to stop to take pictures. I wish I took some pictures of the moonlight showing through the clouds with a few fisherman with the rods bent over, it would have been a beautiful picture.

The wind came in and slowed things down but we did manage to get some blues and bass.....overall a GREAT weekend trip.

I was chit chattin with a person and he said he lived in a town on the NH border of Mass. I asked him where and he said Lowell (where I live). I asked him where he lived and he said he lived across the city but he said he was buying a house 3 houses down from me.....small world!

Sounds like you had a pretty good trip though. Fished the backside on a charter Monday and we filled our quota quickly. Tide changed and the blues moved in. It was so hard being on a bvoat only a few feet from my favorite beach. October can't get here quickly enough. Sandman you must have run into Bubba and the crew.
