Eeling question

The few times I've fished with eels I've tied my hook directly to my leader and attached the leader to my line with a swivel. But what do you do if you want to switch back and forth between plugging and eeling - use a leader with a snap and just put the hook on a snap?

no, don't put the hook to a snap

better off tying the hook to the leader

if you want to quickly change up, make the leader from the swivel to a snap fairly short, then do another leader from a swivel to a tied on hook and that swivel can be snapped on to the first snap, so now you have 2 leaders in effect.

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.

Thanks - that's actually what I've done. I just have to shorten up the eel leader a bit

I just cut the hook off and tie on a clip if switching to plugs or the reverse going to eels. Tie a good knot and no worry. If you are giving a method some time before switching, the 60 seconds to change from a hook to clip is minimal...

You should never ever even consider changing from an EEL to a plug

I didn't do Shinney in the summertime even when I lived on LI. I certainly ain't about to drive to LI and brave Hamptons bound traffic when I live 5 minutes away from the Canal.

Besides, Moriches is better, anyway
