"Why We Should All Wear A PFD!"

I'm glad he's OK, but what's with the "We." Based on the story it is clear that HE should always wear a pfd, as should most people that are not comfortable being in the water or cannot recognize the conditions that warrant wearing one.

There are many conditions where I'll wear a pfd - running at night, or alone/with inexperienced boaters, bad weather, etc.

There are also many conditions where the risk is minimal to me and I don't need one.

OTOH, the story should be a wake up call to people that are not comfortable in the water. Poor technique and panic can doom someone in under 5 minutes, like it almost did in this case.

Best regards,
Roger

Its also clear form the article that he had no idea of what to do if he fell into the water. He should have kicked off his shoes, removed the sweat shirt and used the shirt as a float. If he had ties the arms in knots he could have trapped enough air in it to prevent him from sinking easily.

That's a good point Mike. That is one lucky man if it's true.
