It's Gone But Not Forgotten

Not sure if everyone knows this or not but the tug down in Bourne is gone.

A landmark I'll never forget, as a kid when you saw the tug you knew you were down the cape.

My daughter remembers it well also because everytime I went to the canal to launch an assault on the ones with scales she was with me and asked me everytime without fail ... "Daddy, who drove that boat there? Daddy can I go for a ride on it? Daddy, who's that driving it?"

We did get to stop by to see it before it left, only this time we had her daughter (my 6 month old grand-daughter) with us. I figure she probably don't realize what it is even though she was amazed with it but it did go through 3 generations of my family.

I remember my daughter used to wave at "the man" driving it as we drove by on our way to the canal, sad day for us all now that it's gone.

My daughter had tears in her eyes as we were leaving, remembering all of our trips down that end of the planet and the fun we had at the canal.

Generations of memories gone forever ... for a pharmacy, like we need more of them. I'll hold the memories of it and our trips in a special place, a place where nobody can take them away or scrap them for progress.

I hope there's others here who have fond memories of the tug that they've shared with their families and that will miss it as much as my daughter and I will.

As long as we remember it ... it will never be gone forever!

It's been posted before, but vent away. I agree 100%. Pretty soon you'll have a mega pharmacy every 1/4 mile. Seems like an odd place for one too, don't you think? I would have thought they'd eye a location closer to the retail district just to the noerth a bit.

well this stinks.. today everywhere you look its either a new development or stuff like pharmacysgoing up where they dont belong.. well, all we can do is remember the good memories.

The retail district in Buzzards Bay is deader than Kelsey's nuts. And Lord knows those of us who live on the forgotten part of the Cape (town of Bourne on the mainland side of the Canal) need a pharmacy we can use without either a) crossing the bridge on a weekend or b) driving to Wareham or Cedarville.

I would have preferred a mom and pop pharmacy downtown, too, but no one seems to be stepping up to the plate to open new businesses in BBay.

Of course, the ideal situation would be for CVS to have kept the tugboat in place. It could have stayed without adversely affecting parking.

too bad to hear this. my 1 year old things tug boats are the greatest. Side note... the federal do not call list has worked wonders at my house. Probably can find it online.

thats no good, i remember as a kid driving down and my grandfather used to tell me he captained that boat in the navy, which i know now wasnt true, sad to hear its gone.

I think it is more the online stores that do it, I bought some stuff for my camper from an online store and I got so much camper junk mail, emails, and calls right after, the no call list is the best
