Lizard Fish?

A fish I cleaned the other night had these baitfish in the gut, not sure what they are. They match a description I had heard of lizard fish. Found another smaller one washed up on shore under a light nearby the next night, so must be around in good numbers. The mouth has a bunch of small raspy teeth

In all my years I had never seen one before, until last week when I got 2 in the mid bay. Are these normal or a southern visitor?
