STH vs Tibor customer support.
STH sends me brand new antireverse pins no questions asked, free of charge, infact they're sending 3 extras. Infact, the service dept guy even made sure I knew how to remove the pins before the call was done.
Tibor wants me to send in the reel along with my credit card and has a minimum charge to "LOOK" at the reel.
What the hell?!

For over 15 years I delt direct with Billy Pate (Tabor).
Last year that all changed you now have to go through a dealer for parts, I used Eastmans in Falmouth.

What the hell could go so wrong on a Tibor as to require it going back?

Expand on that. I've got two Tibors with a lot of years and my experience runs contrary to that statement. Mine are old so maybe something has changed.
Each reel has been through 3 or 4 sets of anti-reverse dogs, other then that they've been flawless.

Issues relating to skishing I can understand, I'm quite sure they didn't envision that when building the reel.
What's wrong with the rocks though? My Riptide looks like my Van Staals; missing a lot of anodizing from scraping along the rocks but mechanically perfect....

When you send in your Tibor they will completely clean the reel and replace any worn parts. It's recommend that this should be done every four or five years. I'm willing to pay for that kind of service.
I just got a new Tibor and they sent me a tube of their graphite lube for free along with advice on the lube they use. Great customer service in my opinion. FishHawk

Last time I was in Florida tarpon fishing I stoped in to STH with a friend that had a problem with a reel.
On the shop floor were boxes of reels from Argentina being repackaged, some for Cortland some for Cabelas could have been more?
