Smile Along the Truro shore this morning.......

Stifftip and I went for a hike along an backside beach and we observed the following:

1. A tern
2. A seal
3. The same seal working under gulls and the one lost tern hovering over the surf and coming up several times with a fish in his mouth. These fish were between 12 and 20 inches long and white on the bottom with silver sides and looked like bass. He ate at least three while we watched.
4. Gulls festing on sand eels being forced to the surface and the sand eels were about 6 inches long.

Also, in Orleans by Rock Harbor there were daffodils in bloom in several spots on the side of the road and many coming up with buds on them.

Wierd winter for sure.

Why even try.........

Yeah, I second that ... it's been a weird winter for sure ... I'm not complaining about the warmth ... as I favor it to freezing cold, but it could also mess up the natural dynamic of the seasons ...

whiting? haven't seen one in years. I saw birds working in Truro on Saturday.

All this warm weather we are having this year, what kind of effect will it have on the spawners. I was thinking maybe alot of them would hang farther north than the Chessie?

What no rod with you?

Must have felt un-natural to walk the beach without a rod. I would love to see 20" whiting again if thats what they were.

I was just checking the forecast for the week, and the best bet for some solid safe ice will be north. Fortunately for m, I picked up my NH license for the year. I have a nephew that wants to hit the ice this year, and this weekend should be good enough for some hard water fishing.
