Seems pretty obvious, really!

The main thing I don't get about this Zeebaas reel besides price, is how can a reel the physical size of a VS150 be intended for "heavy surf fishing" applications??

To me the VS150 also is useless for this: it is strictly a back- bay schoolie/ light tackle reel to me... and you don't need a VS (submersibility) there! Truly, I feel under- gunned often even with my VS250: ex., throwing 3 oz.+ Dannys/ Darters, etc. Not only is the handle on the 150 tiny... but one must consider "cranking power" as important as any other features in a reel (esp. if you fish rocks more than sand!)

Finally: who needs a reel impervious to cosmetic scratches & nicks enough to pay extra hundreds for that??-- I proudly look on my 10- yr. old black VS250's war- scars as proof of a thousand nights & stories & fish... in the rocky heavens of the Striper surf... & as obvious evidence that I "needed" a VS to begin with!

Even if the Zeebaas were 50% less costly, I still wouldn't even consider one, 'till they came out with a reel at least size- equiv. to the VS250... And like the Stella, it better not weigh a lot more than my VS250 either if you want my coin! (I'm not out there casting for 45 minutes only at a clip-- more like 2- 3 hours+ per)...

i never had a problem with a 150 and countless bass. the reel is fine and can handle any side bass even sellin bass. every thing i own gets trashed but i rather fish the 150 and 250 than carry the old pile of penns around.
or the ahabs witch use to be the hot reel for sellin fish here way back

I've never had a problem, or felt under gunned with my vs 200 on bass up to 40lbs.

Ditto here. Never felt undergunned with my VS 150b and 1084. This is in the rocks. Super light set up I can cast for hours with out fatigue.
Only felt helpless once and that was with a Calcutta 400 and a med heavy 9' Lami. I still dream about that fish.

Who has signed up recently purely to plug the reel? The 2 guys I have seen post about it have been on here for a while.

Skitterpop! I changed my avatar. Sorry if it looked like I was a setting up shop to sell Zeebaas. Should I change my user name as well?
It does have a "Z" in it.

What difference does it make where they are from.I'm sure Rob has friends all over the striper coast.he did us a nice favor by engraving the reel for John R.Nice.
The internet is loaded with guys who support their friends in their endeavors. I could start with myself an the list is long.believe me..
This is not always a bad thing..Hopefully everyone is smart enough to read between the lines.
Make their own choices..
These squables about cost's are fruitless.Like the beachmaster e-baY thread.
Not everyone is has the same financial constraints as most.
I really wish in a thread like this they would go away.
Unfortunately when a reel goes for what 10-706z's would it becomes a issue.
If I had the money I would not buy the reel as i condier it too small to balance out the gear I primarily use...
This is the type of info the thread should be about.

FORE!

Agree! I thought boards were about exchange of information and discussion. Didnt know where I was from or how much I spend on gear mattered.

True, I hear you will not be allowed in Montauk this year without at least two on top of your buggy. If I can get someone to buy my VS's for $1,000 each I'll be al set.

I will second that

I should be catching Z's, instead spending my nights, catching fish and letting them all go!
