Talking Slip! Lower your casts!

I heard on the radio that the Sagamore bridge was closed late night into this morning becuase the natural gas mains under the bridge were leaking. Apparently, the utility company fixed the leak this morning. The leaks were in the mains that feed the cape and the power plant.

Figures, last year Slip starts jiggin' for the drain plug in the canal and this year Jpowers taught him that deflecting the jig a certain way off the bridge imparts an enticing jig motion when it hits

I figured we were safe since lead is a non-ferrous metal

maybe just maybe it wasn't me and it may have something to do with the milllions of out of state cars traversing the bridge every day

Sure blame it on the cars - I tend to believe the stories of the gulls hangin' on the bridge scared to death as 5 ounces of lead is screaming at them from a long graphite wand cast in fury

The high fences on the bridge aren't there to stop people from jumping, they are positioned there to stop a hunk of lead from penetrating the top roof metal on some minivan from Ohio...

Some guys like Ron Arra and Big Dave try to (and do) cast across the Ditch. For us mortals , we aim for half way (150 yards). Slipknot doesn't like estimating so he bangs them right off the bridge at center span! He's a brute!!

If there are a million out of state cars , the are a zillion in state cars!

Test

Ok - Yep, casting distance is important but a long jig drift is even more important. Guerrila fishing. Imagine a 30+#er whackin' your jig about 100 yards down current off to your left or right, out about 80 yards, in a 5 knot current, in 50' of water. That's a killer.

Saw ( and heard) our resident Brute do just that last Spring. He was yellin' " my arms are burning". And those aren't just normal arms - more like oak trees. He was so disconbobulated that he left his rod behind when he left with the fish.

Fishin' is fun - but, this kind of fishing can get ya up before dawn when you know you're nuts!

FOCROFLMAO

You are so correct JP, I did forget a rod that day

Thanks, I needed a good laugh

Even when the fishing is slow, the company is great

BCY had an even funnier story when he wacked his 44#er. He told me he dragged the fish to the top of the service road and then had to lay down beside it for a while to recoup. I haven't seen him around yet this year but I'm always hopeful - he's one funny bugger !
