South Shore MA Eel Supply?
Anyone on the south shore or relatively close to Quincy break their eels up based on size?
The shop I usually go to does not and they've been really small lately which is apparently the case with what has been coming from the distributors.
Hoping to pay a little more to get eels that I can actually cast.

I work at a tackle shop in Ct. and basically what happens is you order so many pounds from the distributers, and they dump a net-full in the tank. Small, medium, huge whatever, its all based on weight. Its a huge pain in the arse to sort em all out so very few shops do that. Ussually if you ask , you can just pick your own.

They don't like you pick at the shop I go to from what I've heard. I'm sure it might be different if you buy them more often but I only fish eels occasionally.

On the rare occasions I have been there, Pete at Belsan's has always taken care of me.
To get a little more weight out of the eel, cut solder (lead if you can find it) into lengths of about 2-2½" and jam them down the eel's throat. Makes them swim deeper, too.
