I would be frustrated too considering they were $450. Were they completely mangled or something when you sent them back?

What difference does it make how much wear this is? A year is a year is a year.

hmm. did you slide a lot on rocks and stuff?
FWIW, my experiences with Simms have been pretty good for the several times I've had to send my breathables back for leak repairs.

SHould have bought them through LLbean. I thought Simms policy was the first repair was free? I have had great service from them and am wicked happy at how their drytop has been holding up after almost 2 seasons, 100x better then my old aquaskinz top.

Weird... I had one of their dry tops that I completely destroyed... torn gaskets, shredded waistline, holes, broken zipper.... they had a new one in my hands in 2 weeks... no charge.
I would call and get pissed if I were you. I spoke with a very nice women, I may still have the emails she sent I'll check.

Remember that Simms warranties waders for the life of the product, not the life of the owner.
If they feel a product is at the end of it's lifespan (however it got there) you might get denied.
I'd call back though and explain the situation and see what happens.
How much were they going to charge you for the repair?

Here is the simms warrantee. i think you'd be crazy to spend $450 on waders if this is their warrantee but to each his own.
************************************************** *
At Simms, we stand behind everything we make. If your Simms product fails due to workmanship or material defect during the life of the product, please return it to us for repair or replacement. This warranty does not cover damages caused by improper care, accidents or the natural breakdown of materials over extended use and time. All defective or damaged products should be returned to Simms for evaluation and will be repaired or replaced at the discretion of Simms Fishing Products.
What does this mean for waders?
Workmanship & Materials are Guaranteed for the Life of the Product. If a Simms wader fails due to workmanship or material defect during the life of the product, please return it to us for repair or replacement. All defective or damaged waders should be returned to Simms for evaluation and will be repaired, replaced or returned at the sole discretion of Simms Fishing Products. This warranty does not cover damages caused by improper care, accidents or the natural breakdown of materials over extended use and time.
30 Day “Across the Counter” Wader Exchange. If, within 30 days of the purchase date, you are unhappy with a Simms wader, bring it back to the dealer you bought it from. Present your sales receipt, and we will replace it, no questions asked.
The First Repair Is On Us. At Simms, we stand behind everything we make. But, from time to time, we all take a tumble in the pursuit of fish. If you accidentally damage your Simms wader during the first year that you own it, the first repair is on us. Simply ship us the wader, along with a copy of your receipt, and we will repair it and ship it back to you.
Further, we will only charge you our actual cost for any additional repairs that you may need during the life of your wader. Our Repair Department is not a profit center. Simply bring the wader to your dealer or contact Simms’ Customer Service for a Return Authorization. Then, ship the wader to us with a note describing the problem and someone from our Customer Service Team will promptly contact you with a repair estimate. Once we receive your approval we will repair your waders and ship them back to you.
Using the About Repair section to your advantage.
Learn about care & maintenance for your Simms Waders, and other important details to increase the life-span of your waders. The online registration form allows you to quickly register your waders with Simms.

I have had my llbean waders replaced three times. I am not happy about it but at least they stand by their product. The LLBean rep said "The waders should last longer than one year"
I paid 240$ for the waders but have only paid it once.

Considering the abuse waders get in RI, especially breathables you'd have to wonder if it's really reasonable to expect them to last all that long.
When I read the descriptions for the extra tough waders, it's usually about walking through brush etc...not sliding down a razor sharp boulder on your rear...

hmm reminds me of the 3 plug bags i have had for 2 years that are in tatters.. the dry top that has 3 ripped gaskets..
everything is junk these days and designed to only last just past the end of th warranty..
I think i am going to sew up a kevlar plugbag with my stepdad's sailmaker's sewing machine
