New Forum?

What I want to do is to create a new forum for Rod Building. I've been looking to get this going for a while now but have not pulled the trigger yet.

There is certainly enough people here that make their own rods and some that want to get in on it to make it a popular spot. We also have several people that build a lot of rods like MikeCC, Saltheart, Capesams, & Ron from the Sportsman's Den (when he stops just lurking ) so the experience is out there (I have not built enough yet to consider myself able to give consistent top-notch advice)...

It also might get the blood flowing for some that don't want to build their own rod but once they see what's available ...

As we're now looking at the beginning of the Fall Run , in short of time our favorite fish will be heading to warmer climates and we'll be chasing little rats at various holdover spots, re-aquainting ourselves with our families, and getting the gear ready for next year. I think this will be a good time to get Rod Building up on the boards...

Any comments? Or other boards that should go up?

Thanks,

John

I think it will be a popular forum. I was surprised how well the plug building forum caught on. I'm sure the rodbuilding will be equally as popular.

Thumbs up

i think that would be a great forum. im not a rod builder, but it would give us some real life reviews and applications on blanks and special purpose rods .

Good Idea. Will I build any, who knows? I did build myself a wrapping jig about two weeks a go so I could fix a rod for a guy I work with. A clean quiet hobby, now I need to find a way to keep the woodstove dust from ruining all my work......

I'm mostly a lurker, don't feel bad, I'm very comfortable with the label for now. I've learn a lot here and hope to participate more in the future. As for a new rod building forum, If you post it, I will read!
