Post A Raven adventure

i launched the john boat in the rain after what seems like a life time of not having the time to fish. I'm thinking i have a fully charged battery and as i get 50 feet from shore "poof" the trolling motor stops dead and i realize the battery is a gonner... but since i was out there i figured, make the best of it and have some fun. I anchored in about thirty feet of depth and caught a fish on my second cast.....but it wasn't to well hooked and got free. eventually i hooked a nice rainbow but it took awhile and i was thoroughly soaked before i paddled against a fierce wind and headed for home.

Back home i was determining what was wrong with the trolling motor and it worked fine off the car battery...and i have my dingo outside with me
(cattledog) ...then she chases after a woman pushing a baby stroller and i'm yelling at her to get out of the street....and she runs and jumps in the Van knowing shes a bad dog for doing that and gets hooked on the face with a crawdad lure in the process. luckilly i was able to unhook her but she almost hooked her paw to her face and that would have been nasty.

i put her in the "time out" pen...fixed my gear....two rods were all fouled up
and changed into dry clothes and then headed back there to fish from shore and had the place to myself...it was real cold and windy but i managed to hook a nice brown trout and we just had them for dinner.

i'll be heading back in the morning to go trolling like i intended to do today but the weather should be sunny and warm instead of all this SLOP !

seeing the Osprey having a fish in it's talons and circling was a great site too it made me happy inside to be out there at last.

Thumbs up need some help

said the big fat shore fisherman (Yesterday)
smoking a huge cigar...

i said : hesitantly... yeah ok, because i go loaded for bear...
it was heavy and my back was already sore...;

and the idiot nearly tore my boats front lip off...
as it's just aluminum and i forgot how fragile it was.... doh

so i did a custom rebuild on her today and it came out mint
i even repainted the deck added some more
wood and a secondary handle..

then i went to the lake and got three rainbows and two big browns
the browns i got at dusk with worms and power bait because
the lure's weren't working after the wind died and it had glassed over.

those i'm gonna freeze for a future trout supper.

one thing i realized

was.... that i truly need to fish

one, for the spectacular views ..sunsets ,foliage
reflecting on the water,,,ect
the beauty of ducks coming in for a landing
I am quite fluent in duck chatter and can make them
circle me...same with crows...

but the main reason is because it teaches me to have patience
especially when things get tangled up or paying attention to
the smallest details as in knot tying ,reading the water and
site fishing...

i was astonished....i had the ole lady stop at CVS pharmacy on her way home and buy me a gallon of distilled water for the huge battery i have as it was bone dry.... (no wonder ) and s.o.b. it took the whole friggan gallon to fill it.

i didnt realize they held that much water having only topped them off in the past....and i have it on the charger now and it seems to be taking the charge just fine. I'm back in business.... and i won't have to use an old
car battery anymore...

friggan battery is still junk :(

it wont take a full charge and the car battery
out performs it two to one although its almost half the size.

gotta buy some more line ...thought i had a fifty pound
brown trout on yesterday when the trolling motor caught a line and rapped it around the hub...

a fillet knife solved that problem in short order though...and thats why i take plenty of rods with me...

it was chilly out there...though, and long underware was a must have...
in the rain ...

the coolest thing was watching this bald EAGLE up in the pine tree munching
on the trout i saw him catch and i got quite close hoping to grab some pictures
but my memory stick was full "dammit! and i couldn't erase what was on there. shoot...

when you do go to buy a new battery for that trolling motor, remember, you want a Deep Cycle, marine battery. Cat batteries will not take the constant draining and recharging.
