Stripers and The Cape

I went down to the cape on Saturday to pick up my ORV permit and hoped to maybe see some signs of life. Well, the only signs of life I saw was a couple of Whales just off shore, although that was cool I was disapointed to see the lack of bait in the water. On the way home we stopped at a visitor info center to get some camping info, the info that was posted only had the water temp at 40°, (don't know how accurate that was but it seams cold for this time of year) who knows...

I guess they will be here sometime...

good luck...

RE:Stripers and The Cape

Shhhhhh Bill don't tell anyone but the ARE there NOW.

Saturday afternoon between 1:00 and 3:00 I caught at least 50 of the little striped guys on a flyrod (I wasn't counting). I was fishing within 5 miles or so of the CC National Seashore Visitors Center. There was another fellow there who got there before I did and was counting his fish. He was over 100 when I left. He said he had measured a 30" fish for a fellow who hadn't brought a tape measure. The fish I caught were mostly 12 - 18", a few 22 -24" and a few that were only 8 - 10".

There was a lot of snall bait in the water.

Remember to look for areas with warmer water now.

Hi Rich,
Jeff's house arrived just about the same time as the stripers did. He has been busy working on it. I don't think he's been out fishing yet. Oh well, there's plenty of time - it's a long season.
