Parents Christmas Present
What did you get your parents for Christmas last year?
I'm looking for ideas -
btw - parents are over 65yrs old.....but don't let that you stop you from posting your answer.

Nothing! we stopped buying gifts for each other years ago.....we get together for xmas and just buy for the kids (my nieces and nephew) we stopped mainly because we never new what to get each other and decided that giving each other something was not a big deal.
ok...I know that didnt help you much did it??? If they are like my 65 and over parents they already have everything they need and trying to get rid of stuff as it is...How about a few nights stay at a a cozy country inn? Gift certificate for a massage or fancy restaraunt the they may not normally splurge on? a case of their favorite wine?

I try to avoid all family around the holidays.If I had to get them something it would be a book.

Of course I'd have to buy two copies one for each parent in each seperate households.Brother and Sister would most likely get a cup of STFU and a big bag of BAHUMBUG.Possibly some lube to make their own heads go in their own a$$'s a little easier.Nuff about my family..
In your situation I'd go with something nice that they both can enjoy like the stuff Jenn previously posted.Take the advice of women you can't go wrong.Pick something on your own and your just asking for trouble.

try the new digital photo frames that rotate thrrough the pictures down loaded and stored in memory. one frame and hundred pics. got one for the wife this year.

Did the digital frame for my mom this year, as she has too many pictures of her grandkids all over the house. Now, she can have one nice frame with a bunch of pictures of all her grandkids. We also got her a new digital camera that's easier to use than her old one. My dad's getting Charlie Soares' new book and some stuff for fishing, along with some gag gift if I can get one before next week. |

Reality check: Most don't need anything material [hopefully]. What most would probable like is "regular" visits from children & grandchildren. And when you go there, bring dinner so mom doesn't have to cook.  |

Each year my wife makes up a Christmas Cheer basket with fruits and small packages of crackers and cheese, a jar of preserves along with gift certificates to their favorite restaurants. She goes to Joanne Fabrics or Michaels and buys shrink wrap, puts a bow on it and they LOVE it.

2008 Calendar with pictures of her Granddaughter's. She loved the 2007 calendar, go to Kodak/Snapfish to make one.
Dad -
He's on this site and will prob. be reading this so will not tell, he'll by pyched with his gift though.....

Ah BC, bein i'm more than a few yrs over 65,  i can tell you most older parents want their kids to save their money and not buy them big gifts. 
Having said that, family pictures or a gift card that allows them to buy what they want is appreciated. Just mho. 
BTW- no sibling rivalry tiffs on Christmas day is the best gift of all.   |

did the same thing for my mom, loaded up a digitial frame with pics. She had converted a bunch of slides from the 60s with her and my Dad to digital files. I loaded all those up too along with my kids pics

Mom's 82. Gift certificate to the mothership, Nordstroms or Macys. She can then get what she would never splurge for. And the three kids pony up for her round trip air ticket for her annual trip to her sister's in Florida.
Other ideas; prepaid gasoline or heating oil cards
