Devereaux Beach

I was thinking about hitting this place up tonight. However, does anyone know if it's okay on the low? If it's not is there anywhere nearby it on the North Shore that does produce on the low. Hopefully, at this time of year it doesn't matter.

Hi Don,
Last I heard there were a ton of fishermen there every night, But also lots of fish I live in that area ahd i can tell you that all you have to do is drive around and look for the birds they have told me where the fish are for the past 2 weeks. Good luck and let me know how you did......

Hit it up last night. Nice beach. Arrived in time for a nice sunset, and saw a nice school about a mile off the beach. After the sun dipped below the horizon, the school moved right in on the beach trapping some bait. However, they were REALLY finicky, and I could only land them on a small Yozuri crystal minnow which I can heave all of about 20 feet on a good cast. Nevertheless, I managed six bass between 20 and 26 inches. Better than the skunk, but I wish I could have gotten the casts out thirty yards further to the bigger fish, but they wouldn't even look at anything I could throw that far. It was also low tide. However, this beach looks like it will really produce on the high and with the woman travelling on business next week, I'll be back soon enough.

Just drive around and look for the birds, eh? Not a bad strategy. I assume you're referring to the Revere/Winthrop area? I might give that a try.

Are they coming in close enough to cast to? Are they in fishable areas. I think I'm heading out Thursday night, and may try that. If I don't see anything in my travels, I'll end up at Devereaux anyway.

Hey Don,
Dat's my home! After taking a 2 1/2 day break, to digest I assume, the fish are back at devereaux, and preston beach too (on the Marblehead/Swampscott line) They are finicky, but have been starting to feed close in anywhere from as early as 2PM!!!

I have had some luck with the small Yoz chrystal minnows, but have changed to larger (ie. heavier) trebles, which has helped with casting distance. Most evenings they're swimming where I'm wading so don't need to really toss it that far. (Might bring a net come to think of it) Have been seeing fish around mid 30s clear out of the water! Birds haven't been the best to track at these spots, so just look for the bait. If it's there, they'll be in....

I will be in a gold Winstar with Cutty striper sticker on rear. Leave me a note if you're around!

Ross

Not sure if there are any bait shops in Marblehead proper.

However, you can try Pete's Bait & tackle in Salem: http://www.petesbait.com

Or Great Outdoors in Wyoma Square in Lynn.
