Jack and #$#%# Jill baby showers!

I know we've been over this, but I am so damn pissed about this jack and jill baby shower stuff. My wife's friend has one this weekend and when I told my wife about MSBA she's like "well we have the baby shower" and I said "No, YOU have a shower, I HAVE MSBA to go to"
this is such a woman thing, whoever thought of inviting men should be shot!
So I basically told her there is no damn way I'm going.
the problem with this is I know she'll hold it against me.

Same with stags - don't intrude on our night. Continue to go to your boring wedding shower.

There ya go.....I always say you have to pick your battles....this is one worth picking.....screw jack and jill anything. Stupidest Idea I ever heard of......

And any guy that thinks its a good thing needs to have his Man-Card ripped up and his testicles put in a jar for posterity, its obvious he doesn't use them.

You did the right thing even though you'll probably have to pay for it later. If men are forced to attend baby or bridal showers, it upsets the delicate balance of the world. I have never been to either and see no need for a man to attend. The last thing my wife would want is me around all of her friends and relatives scratching myself and making crass jokes after a few bloody mary's. My wife has a bridal shower this Saturday and I will be taking my 3 year old son to the monster truck show at the Dunk. (Coincidentally, I vowed never to attend a monster truck show, but my son is obsessed with them.) On Sunday, I complete my "guys only" weekend by attending the MSBA show and then going home to tile a bathroom floor.

This is a stand and fight issue. Do NOT cave on this one.

It is the silliest idea ever. One day two jealous controlling broads were planning a shower, probably bitching about how their boyfriends/husbands were going to go drinking or watch football while they spent the day at the shower. Thus, in just another attempt to assert control, they basically created the "Jack and Jill" theme so that they have their significant other by their side the whole time.

My wife knows where I stand on this (she thinks it is foolish too) so she would never ask, but I see buddies getting roped into this sh*tshow every now and then. Stand up and say NO.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. ~John Buchan

Talking don't go unless

you get to wear:

only slippers , a gold smoking jacket
and underneath that nothing but

a red hot speedo.

ps.

don't forget to pick up
some adult toys on the way.

It is so much easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission. Benn there and done that. Plus what woman in her right mind would want a guy to be at her beck and call all the time? I say to hell with Jack and Jill parties! I got lucky though my wife thought the whole Jack and jill thing was a lame excuse to control your husbands last free moments with his boys.

OMG!!! you guys have no idea how good you have it!!!! Try being a woman (who by the way cant STAND these things....probably even more than you)!!!! If you are a woman and invited to a baby or bridal shower you are doomed no doubt. First you need to RSVP which equals a half hour on the phone discussing the shower, then countless hour and stress of finding a gift, then you have to have something acceptable to wear, THEN you have to go there and sit through it all. Sure you could call and say you cant make it but then its an hour of being harassed about all the fun you'll miss and how you really should go, a month of everyone else asking if your going and then freaking out because you tell them your not, THEN after its all said and done everyone that went tells you in detail about the whole damn thing anyway!!!!!

Simplify.......

Being a proponent of Siddhartha, as you obviously are, why don't you do what the guys do under similar circumstnces: find a clean or at holeless t-shirt, an appropriate pair of denims, put some deoderant on, comb your hair and head to Hooter's. Once there look around and say, "is this as good as it gets or what?" And then kick back.

Being newly married, I'd have to suggest that the winter-time is the purrfect time for putting cookies in the cookie-jar,....in saying that, I was co-herced (or in woman terms, forced ) to attend one of these gatherings not that long ago. She convinced me that she has always been the "lonely" wife at these things because most women bring their husband, and since it wasn't fishing season, this would make her VERY happy (which in a man's terms, means xtra SEX )

Ok, so I went and I gotta say, believe it or not....I'm very happy that I did. I arrived at this "Jacka$s & Jill" shin-dig and was soon sitting in a room filled with women, yeah...some pretty, some ugly and some pretty ugly. There may have been 3 or 4 other men/saps/suckas also trapped in this hall. After 20 minutes of this thing being started, I started staring at my wife,,, It didn't take long before I started with the... "where are all the Jacks???... I only see Jacka$ses" ....//....It's a very GAY ritaul ...(Gay meaning, ...a real girly/happy thing, - no offense to the homosexuals on this site)...It was driving me nutz and she could tell -

Ok, so why am I happy that I went? 10 Reasons

#1. She was very apologetic and said I'd never have to go again.
#2. After 30 minutes she said LEAVE, so I hit a nearby bar in the city I grew up in....and was paged when she was ready to be picked up....and again, she was very apologetic
#3. Most important reason = I will NEVER go to one of those seances again..
#4. Many cookies were obtained from my short attendance
#5. She (like Jenn) was not happy with the whole thing herself as she was constantly being asked "when are you going to have one?"
#6. She was very apologetic
#7. I will never have to go to one of those or anything else girly-like again.
#8. She was very apologetic
#9. I can rub it in for a long time making it very dramatic when needed as an "edge".
#10. Did I mention apologies from a woman often lead to sex?
.............................. ................

I think I put those in the right order.

Rockport, do what you think is best for your marriage before anything else - Only YOU know.

If "all the guys" will be downstairs, thay AREN'T AT THE SHOWER ARE THEY? It's not a matter of "togetherness", it's a matter of trying to find out which guys are missing their "Y" chromosomes.
My brother had one for his first child, and I told him he should turn around and walk right back out the door. The hormones were so thick, it was like walking into a cigar bar with the smoke hanging in the air.
