Anyone use Quantum reels before?
i just got a boca spin reel anyone got any reveiws or tips?

I have the 70 on a 10' Quarrow.
They are a little on the heavy side.Insanely smooth drag.Overall a good reel for the price.

I had an 80, I think is the #. Comparable to a Penn 5500ss in size. Still works fine. I used only mono, can't speak for braid on that reel. Stopped fish in the mid 20s no problem.

I owned a Cabo 60 for a time. Similar to the boca. Pretty solid reel. had a few drag clicker issues & required flipping over the bail manually after a few months. It was still under warranty but ended up selling it. moved up.

have heard the bocas are great. i have a 60 on my 11' lami gsb and love it. i think it is very well balanced and casts awesome. have dunked it before and no problems.... just make sure if that happens it gets a thorough rinse and a quick check inside. great reels though.

Be very carefull if you dunk these reels!I bought a Cabo because after research it is no doubt a quality reel.That was last May.After using it during the spring and then the early fall,by the end of September it had siezed.I flushed this reel after every use the same way I treated my Penn 704's.By October I was into a Van Stall.End of story.I just don't think Cabo's are up to the task as far as surf reels go.

I have a boca 50 and a cabo 60. Both are good reels, just make sure you clean them after every outing especially if you dunk them. That being said I fished the hell out of the cabo last year and landed some nice fish on it. I haven't fished the boca as much but it seems lke a good reel too.

Thanks for the insight i was planning on primarily using it as a boat rod, which would mean that it wouldnt be dunked unless it flew out of the boat

Got a couple of 40's and 60's on the boat. Guessing this will be the fourth year. Never an issue. My only concern is the housing may not hold up over time.

I have a 50 and 60 ( same reel different spoon capacity ) and a 20 . So far I have only used them in freshwater for trout and salmon . I havent had any issues as of yet and have caught fish up to 28-32#s . I use conventional mostly in the salt . I heard cause it casts further than spinning . I dont need my own breasts my wife has enough ( 2 ) for both of us .
