A prayer for one of our sisters...
I know I said I'm not religious or anything but I do believe in God so I'm asking all of you to do a prayer for a friend of mine.
When I first started fishing in saltwater, I was clueless. I fished for snappers and I had a hard time getting minnows to go into my trap. That's when a friendly couple helped me out. They showed me what to do and where to put my trap. Soon enough, I was next to them striper fishing. They really showed me the ropes. We sat at "the benches" together. Like a big family. This season, the lady, Joan, hasn't been fishing. Her husband and fishing partner doesn't think it's right for him to go fishing so he has stayed away. She is sick with lupus and now diabetes. She has been really really sick lately. I don't know how much time she has left but it has made me very sad. I don't think I could even visit her now because I think I would wind up crying. They both took me under their wing when I had no one else to show me what to do.
So if it isn't too much to ask, before you go to bed tonight, if you could just say a few words or something for one of our sisters. I would appreciate it.
Once the inevitable does happen, I guess I'll see if the town will let me put a plaque up on "their bench".
Thanks,
Patrick
