New f250 yamaha self maintenence?

My bud got a new four stroke yamaha F250.
He's been convinced in order to keep the warrantee... he has to pay some "certified" yamaha mechanic over $350 bucks, each time the oil needs changing.
I say

Yamaha oil filter $23 - $25
5 1/2 qts M4 oil @ $4.50 $5.00, both depending where you buy
$55 max
Mike, do the math $350 = rip off !!!

I never 1 time took my Parker to the dealer for any service on either of my Yamaha 4 strokes.
Had a few issues taken care of under warranty.
Monahans marine assured me, just document oil changes and use Yamaha oil & filters and there would be no problems with warranty!

Nope but I would still do my own work when ever possible!!

Man I have been looking at motors, I can buy a cheap car that gets 30 mpg for $20K.

I hate owning a boat!! But I would never not own one!! I am so confused! LOL

I say BS.....Don't worry about it.

Change it yourself, keep records and if they ever get snippy about it tell them a certified freelance mechanic did the work.

Things done at the last possible minute are done with the greatest possible information. Procrastination is, therefore, the most efficient means of doing things.
