spun a pile of needlefish this weekend. made a few atom 40 copies today. all i have right now are blanks. some are drilled out, some were just to get past the "learning curve". still have to get the wire, grommets, and lips for the swimmers. it was killing me to have the lathe sitting in the cave looking all clean! you should see the pile of sawdust already! i can definately see why you guys have been doing this all along. can't wait to get some in the water. i'll keep you all updated as chris and i progress.

hmm..

yeah, as toby can attest there is definately a learning curve when it comes to turning wood. seeing as how I just kind of went to town on it I made some excellent pieces that resemble something like a candle holder eventually realizing why I was there I turned a few needles... it is definately an addictive thing to do and contrary to popular belief once the caves door closed toby stayed on his side of the lathe. I know that toby had some alterior motives as he saw me dancing around in my white jump suit

ok, ok. you guys got a few shots in. i didn't even realize my pants make it look like i have boots on! i learned pretty quick that it helps to wear gloves when turning. especially with the sandpaper! that stuff gets hot quick! i started to wear a neoprene glove on the hand i sand with. it worked much better.

T,

BAD IDEA to wear gloves! It's not if they get caught, it's when.

The thing will mangle your hand in a second.

Fold the paper in half, or use a longer peice and hold the edges

Or continue doing what your doing and just call me when you need to sell your stuff because you can't fish cause you lost a few fingers.

Try folding your paper in thirds. The grit grips the back and it doesn't slip as much. It also takes a couple of extra seconds to get hot.
