Oak Bluff Shark Tourney
What a fun time. On day 1 we had a thresher to the boat an hour after lines in. Looked like it could possibly make the weight(kinda hard to get a measurement on a live shark trying to smack you in the head), so we stuck it. Turns out chart said it would probably be 175#(250 would qualify), and although it seemed very fat decided not to weigh it in, but eat it. Day 2 we hook up at 10 and after a 3hr fight bring in a 330 thresher. for a fairly inexperienced crew, everything went super smooth at the boat. I believe that shark put us in 6th, 5pounds out of the prizes RJ Amorroso did a great job on the rod for us. Pulling into Oak Bluffs with that shark was an unbelievable experience.

Nice work Tony. Idling around to weigh a fish in with that crowd is a great experience. Chunk or live blue?

I was there with the kids and was amazed at the crowds . . .
We saw one boat, the Lady K, with a small mako on the swim platform and I questioned whether it would make the weight . . . heard later that it did not - but I'm sure it made Good Eats
The protesters were funny "What men will do to stroke their ego" or something like that
The same guy had a tramp stamp "evolve" tatooed on his back

Nice Fish T, and thanks for sharing the steaks with me.
Anyone have suggestions on how to cook a Thresher? It's going on the grill tonight!

Grill it like mako or swordfish
nice job T.O. hell of an all around fisherman..
Used to fish on a boat that did Snug and Oak Bluffs every year. lots of fun. glad when they got rid of bluesharks though; made me sad to see em wasted!

I figured you would just eat the thing raw like George the Animal eating a turnbuckle.
WTF has gotten into you anyways? First its cooked fish, next its gonna be trail mix.

Tony, well done my friend!...And thanks for those thresher steaks...had a few buds over the next day and they got rave reviews off the grill. (it is similar to swordfish but a milder flavor and texture) Everything was consumed .
Glad the weather was half way decent this year. (IMO that is the worst part of big boat tourneys, you are forced to fish on bad weather days)
Next year you will be in the money.

I've sanded all the woodwork in the new house with the skin, my dog and I have split the small pieces for sushi. Not bad, actually, though I think it will be better grilled. Grill is fired up now. Gonna go simple.. Little mayo and pepper and some flames...
George the Animal.... LOL!!!!!!!!!!
