I love that they had the cajones to fish for the BFT inside the pen; not overly sporting, but WTF at that point, right!

Best part of the story! I loved the pics with them and their fish. Sporting %$%$%$%$ eating grins with a bunch of tuna in the middle of an international incident. Can't say I wouldn't do the same thing...

Thanks for the awesome read They are very lucky that they were able to contact the coast guard. I can only imagine what it felt like to be back in there home port. Glad they made it out without any incidents.

Considering they were in international waters I would think the arbitration wouldn't be worth it, especially considering it was the Mexican Federalies who cut the net apart.
Also, think that operation was completely above board? Perhaps they don't want anyone sniffing into their business.

Man, just goes to prove my theory that a fool and what's left of the rest of his life will soon be parted
Those guys don't realize how lucky they were on several fronts but adrenaline and testosterone can be a pretty intoxicating mixture, just ask someone who knows.
Kurt Vonnegut once said that when he reached a certain age (as in old) he was as happy - and lucky - to have gotten off that mixture in one piece as he would have been to have gotten off a wild rodeo horse unscathed.
I dunno, maybe given my personal history I guess I really shouldn't be throwing stones, though...
Jesus, I'm gonna go have another cup of coffee to see how I recoup from last nite's fishless castathon at my favorite UDL....I've got stuff to do...mumble mumble mumble....harumph...
Carry on.

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.
