Roy L's Birthday Shark Strory--Rated PG

A few weeks ago I was invited to go Beach Sharkin with a few guys to celebrate Roy L's Birthday. A few of us got together last Friday and spend an allnighter out on the beach (Hi Joe). Unfortunately, the weed moved in and we did more talking than fishing.

On Saturday, Kadir (Aquaskinz), his friend Tommy, myself and my GF Wendy all joined roy for another try. With some fresh information we decided to try a new beach. Unfortunately, about two hours after draggin the gear on the beach the gate was going to be locked. If the teenagers didn;t mess up the bathrooms last year we would not have these issues.

Anyway, some stay on the beach and a few of us go to move the cars to ouside the gate. At least the town lets us park in fron tof the locked gate for the night.

I am the last one to leave the cars and I return with a very special cake to suprise our Hot Tub Famous Roy L. Here is the first part of his suprise.

After a lot of laughing and picture taking we broke out the birthday plates and napkins (nice touch by Wendy) however there was an issue. Before the knife came out Roy's rod went over. The timing of this can only be described as God sent. I mean it was literally the minute we stopped taking pics and had things set up to enjoy the cake that the rod went down.

About ten minutes later Roy's real birthday suprise was on the beach. Some measuring and minor surgery to insert a NOAA tag and the Brown/Sandbar Shark was released.

A great time was had by all that night and I just had to share this with your guys. I can think of no more deserving angler to have timing of a catch like this. Here are two more pics.

What a fitting B=Day present for a great guy! I had a great time out there Friday night. A beautiful scenic beach with a million stars out and a nice group to fish with.

That was the longest B-day I have ever had. It started Friday morning at 12am and didn't end till 6:30am on Sunday. I Had a blast, Glad you guys could come down and I appologize for the slow fishing. This year has just been a little off. The cake was great and she tasted good too...lol. I wish the rest of the guys could have made it down. Thanks again guys for a wounderfull B-day. In the two night I was able to land 2 fish...The little puppie in patricks picture which went about 30lbs and this one which weighed about 70-75lbs a short while after I turned 36

Roy,

It was great being with you, Patrick and Wendy. Can't control the fishing Roy, no need to apologize....catching is always the bonus, the real treat is being on the water with good friends and sharing good times, which we did.

Hope to do it again soon, thanks for putting in the time with us. Thank you as well Patrick & Wendy for your hospitality and most of all, a good cup of coffee

Kadir
